Description
Founded in 1994 by Scottish lumberjack-turned-winemaker David Powell, Torbreck pays homage to Rhône varietals through the lens of Barossa’s ancient vines—some over 165 years old. Named after a forest in the Scottish Highlands, the estate has become a global benchmark for Australian Shiraz, blending heritage with innovation.
The 2018 RunRig is Torbreck’s flagship, sourced from six iconic Barossa districts and aged 30 months in French oak (50% new). It’s a majestic blend of old-vine Shiraz with a touch of Viognier, offering a nose of black cherry, plum, liquorice, and spice. The palate is rich and structured, with velvety tannins and a lingering finish. A wine of immense depth and aging potential—best from 2026 onward.
