Description
With roots dating back to 1881, when Giuseppe Mascarello acquired his first vineyards in Monforte d’Alba, this family-run estate is now helmed by Mauro Mascarello, the fourth generation. In 1904, the family moved to Castiglione Falletto, securing the legendary Monprivato vineyard, which remains their crown jewel.
The 2019 Monprivato Barolo is a classic expression of Nebbiolo, fermented traditionally and aged 30 months in Slavonian oak. It opens with aromas of rose petal, red cherry, and dried herbs, evolving into spice, leather, and violet. The palate is full-bodied and austere, with firm tannins and a long, contemplative finish. Built for aging, it reflects both terroir and time—cellaring potential of 15–25 years.
