碧玉方泉御制碧玉兽面活环盖瓶

碧玉是一种软玉的品种，通常呈现绿色，有时含有黑点等杂质。它以细腻的质地、柔润的光泽和较高的硬度而著称，常用于制作器皿或工艺品。碧玉的颜色可以从鲜绿到暗绿，也有一些带有黄色的色调。碧玉在我国以新疆的和田玉最为出名，尤其是在准噶尔盆地南缘的玛钠斯县。
碧玉（Jade）为一种含矿物质较多的和田玉，其中氧化铁和粘土矿物等含量可达20%以上，不透、微透或半透，颜色多呈绿色。
按产地可分为新疆碧玉、沱江碧玉、俄罗斯碧玉、加拿大碧玉、新西兰碧玉、美国加州碧玉。

碧玉，器口呈椭方形，有盖。盖沿饰回纹一周，盖面饰绶带云纹，顶镂雕龙首，各衔一环。口微撇，边饰回纹，颈略收，两侧各雕一龙首衔活环。肩饰如意纹。壶腹扁方，体琢一周带，以涡纹为边，其上琢饕餮纹。椭方形圈足，边饰回纹。配同料莲瓣纹座。造型古朴典雅，具王者之风。

Imperial System Green Jade Beast-Mask Vase with Loose Rings and Cover

Green jade is a variety of nephrite, typically presenting in shades of green and sometimes containing black specks or other inclusions. It is prized for its fine texture, smooth luster, and relatively high hardness, and is often used in vessels and works of art. Its color ranges from bright green to dark green, sometimes with yellowish tones. In China, green jade from Hetian in Xinjiang is the most renowned, particularly from Manas County along the southern edge of the Junggar Basin.

Green jade (Jade) is a type of Hetian jade with relatively high mineral content—over 20% iron oxide and clay minerals. It is opaque, slightly translucent, or semi-translucent, and most commonly green in color. By origin, it can be classified as Xinjiang green jade, Tuojiang green jade, Russian green jade, Canadian green jade, New Zealand green jade, and California green jade.

This vessel is made of green jade, with an elliptical-square mouth and a fitted cover.

The rim of the cover is encircled with a key-fret pattern, while the top is decorated with ribbon-cloud motifs.

At the peak, two pierced dragon heads, each biting a loose ring, form the finial.

The mouth flares slightly outward, also bordered with a key-fret pattern.

The neck tapers gently, with dragon heads on each side holding loose rings.

The shoulders bear ruyi-head motifs.

The flattened body is carved with a band of taotie (beast-mask) designs, bordered by spiral patterns.

The vessel stands on an elliptical-square foot ring decorated with key-fret designs, and is matched with a lotus-petal carved stand made from the same jade.

The underside is incised with the seal-script reign mark “Qianlong Fang Gu” (“Qianlong Imitating the Ancients”).

The overall design is simple yet elegant, with a majestic and imperial presence.
